Dusit Thani hotel, Pattaya

The Dusit Thani in Pattaya is a big hotel with 457 beds, almost as much as in Bangkok. The place is mostly always well booked, it was fully booked when I went there. No other hotel in Pattaya generates more revenues than them. The only business I know of in Pattaya that is even more profitable is : Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

I had some kind of sea view room there, nothing special but a good deal for money priced at around THB 6k that time. The view along the whole Pattaya beach was nice, the room is quite modern, the hotel itself looks already a bit older.

At the Dusit Club lounge, 8th flor, you get free drinks from 5.30 to 7.30pm. I always had two starter Singhas there and some fruits to compensate the vitamine loss.
The panoramic views are pretty good of the hotel. I didn’t get a chance to try their Cascade restaurant, the Chinese one, The Peak, I didn’t try as well.

The first, actually larger pool is more old-school and has a deeper water level.

The other one, Lagoon pool, is more adventureous, I went there often, moreover they have a kitchen there where I daily ate some kind of early lunch, I am not sure if that gets prepared inside of Bay restaurant. Mostly I regenerated every morning at the pool from the night before. The Dusit Thani is isolated at the one end of the beach but for relaxing it is really good and you can easily jump on the Baht busses when walking out of the gate.

The Devarana spa is great, similar like in Bangkok. The little garden behind the main lobby was a nice idea and makes it look very tropical. From the spa you can also walk into this little garden.

Every morning at 7am you can watch 9 monks getting food from the hotel. As you know all monks can go wherever they want to optain a food donation and the Dusit Thani is taking care of those 9 monks in Pattaya.
Overall a pleasent stay. The Dusit Thani fulfilled my expectations :

D’Sens restaurant, Dusit Thani hotel, Bangkok

I didn’t get a chance to try D’Sens when I was staying at their hotel but always wanted to try it. It is situated on the top flor, 22nd flor and from there you got smashing panoramic views over Lumpini park and the Silom city area.

The French Pourcel brothers are the founders of this restaurant. When we entered the hotel, we by chance ran across the marketing manager of the Dusit Thani, Mr.Cornelio : Tar and him know each other. Mr. Deledalle, the chef appeared to me as one of the most genuinely friendly restaurant managers of Bangkok. He had worked before for Reflexions restaurant, Le Meridien hotel, which is probably the only real competitor of D’Sens in Bangkok in terms of French cuisine.

They have 90 seats, so this place is really big which I consider to be rather an advantage for the menu selection and variety. The menu is very “German” actually, clear defined and easy to imagine how the dish might look like. I am not into wines yet, so I cannot tell you anything about what they have to offer.

The guests who arrived later at tables around us looked like to be on a similar wavelenghts with us, it felt like a place where I would like to become a regular and there are just 3 restaurants around yet in Bangkok of which I can say that.

I am big fan of the Dusit Thani group in general. You got my vote for support :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU5QqkllLtE

I am also in the process to update my restaurant video guide which had been really lousy in the past. I decided that I won’t cover any other city than Bangkok in terms of restaurants :

Dusit Thani hotel Bangkok : Thailand’s very own heaven on earth

The Dusit Thani hotel is a true Thai owned hotel, recently celebrating its 40th birthday. Something you should consider when staying at big brand-name foreign hotels is that the big bucks you spent flow back to the rich-country world with a high percentage. Ok, they employ a large number of staff but the salaries are ridiculous low in hospitality anyway. That’s why I more and more prefer to support either local companies or even better local, family-owned boutique hotels. It is just hard to find really good ones in the far-end luxury sector. The Maya Ubud on Bali would be a perfect example for an outstanding, local-owned boutique resort.

I was very positive surprised at Dusit Thani. Although the hotel isn’t the freshest anymore, the hotel scores high in other areas. Most remarkable is the low price and excellent service. I had a Thai heritage suite for only 8000 Baht/day which is an excellent deal for money. The other room prices are very competitive as well. Location is ok, with a motorbike you will be mostly anywhere in less than 30min.

Their spa, Devarana spa, is one of the best hotel spas in town, the swimming pool is too small though. Things at Dusit Thani feel pretty easy-going, the guests are relaxed as well. There is not so much show, processes are just handled effective which made my stay feel very comfortable. This is also the reason why I ranked this hotel so high in the Bangkok hotel guide. Special thanks to Veerapol P.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjs4vxAIPnI

In this post I also shortly include my stay at Sascha hotel Uno, a fantastic value for money Thai-owned boutique hotel at central Sukhumvit. Rooms start at only 1800 Baht, location is central and there is a 7-eleven just next to it. If you are on a budget and want to stay in the Sukhumvit area, this place is hard to beat. I will use this place in the future for recovery times. I stayed there after coming back from Pattaya when I was totally wasted. The purpose of my stay there was to regain energy and getting clear thoughts : only sleeping and drinking water. The matrace is very comfortable and the shower is far too good for such prize category. The staff there moreover is really friendly and helpful too. Without surprise their hotel concept quickly proved to become very successful. They are opening a few more hotels soon, one will be the Grand Uno Pattaya.

Bang, Bang, Bangkok : Emmanuelle Arsan forever !

The time in Bangkok was smashing again. Bangkok simply is the place within SEA where I know my ways best and where i had been most often. Many things make it convenient to go for Bangkok. The girls within Thailand look best which is understandable because there they can expect most money. The hotels across whole Thailand are best, Chiang Mai I would rate second. The diversity of things you can do in Bangkok is huge. Accomodation is fantastic : From budget stays to super-luxurious and the best is that you get that for around a quarter of the price you would pay in most western countries. The service degree and friendliness of people is unique in SEA anyway and Bangkok is the easiest city to experience it.

When coming out of the airport and noticing that tropical climate, you might feel home soon and can’t wait to return to walk through the doors into freedom again. It is a state of mind that makes it feel so special. Many things, political and economical are far from being good and it is not a great place to work at. But it is a superb place to enjoy, relax, explore and living your fantasies.

The spa and massage parlors, dirty and non-dirty are the best in the world. Only Jakarta is able to compete in this league. The normal spa like Devarana spa, Potalai or Let’s Relax are simply out of this world. This degree of quality you only find at very rare spots in the world. In Thailand most people start to find out that they still have a body and that they are not pure mental beings. After working crazy for months, you really start to forget your body, I myself am currently in that rhythm again. I learned to indulge in SEA and work like non-exisiting in Germany. I simply figured out that this is the best option for me now. Time is flying anyway…

Although I know the fun I have / can have in cities like Bangkok, the experience didn’t screw my brain (which is rare) and I know what I have from my life in Germany. I would never endanger my base. I stick to simple rules and never expect too much. You cannot always win and cannot always have a great day everywhere. Cut your losses and leave a place once you don’t feel comfortable anymore. I did this on Koh Samui and left earlier than planned on the recent trip, not caring about prepaid hotels anymore. It is just not wise to enforce things.

I also would recommend not to make too strict plans in general for SEA. Most people often do something completely else only shortly after arriving there which is cool, because they go with the flow.

I am personally still always dissapointed about Bangkok’s 2 am closing hours which makes nighlife start too early for my taste and things get rushed too fast into shorter time slots. Moreover for nightlife business, this is a real killer. People start to make crazy drink orders when they get drunk and that mostly won’t happen before midnight, so you have just 2 hours making a lot money in those euphoric states of customers. For me there would be no motivation at all to do bar/club/nightlife business with such existing laws/practiced bribes and overall political situation.

You might wonder why I actually rarely talk about the experiences with the girls. I simply think that this is just not interesting. Shall I write in what positions I fucked them ? I like the Bangkok girls, I would not go there so often if that would not be the case, right ? I enjoy the normal Soi Cowboy / Nana Plaza bargirl meat-market as well as massage parlors as well as G-Clubs and Uni girls. Bangkok has them all and things just come in front of your nose in a convenient way without too much hassle I think. One more interesting thing : I have now videos of all big red light districts across whole SEA. Only looking at the videos, you might say that the prettiest come from Jakarta and Bangkok. However what currently dazzles me is the vibe you feel in my raw, not manipulated, video material. I think the vibe on Fields Avenue, Angeles City is just unmatched at this point of time worldwide. I will release my “Thight Pussy Alarm trilogy” in February. I prefer to tell stories over videos/sounds and not with words.

Ok, check out the video, a tribute to the sexual liberation revolutionist Emmanuelle Arsan who had quite some impact in Bangkok – also have a look at the Emmanulle entertainment complex on Ratchadapisek :
